RE-CREATE

Core I - Spirituality & Education

YSOA | Brennan Buck | PLAN UN-PLANED | Fall 2020

The project centers on defying traditional education and spiritual programs. Through exploring the relationships between the two seemingly opposing programs, this project offers an alternative definition of educational and spiritual programs. Offering a proposal around “Re-Creation” as an umbrella to cap both education - or learning and learning through doing - and spiritual programs - learning through self-meditation.

The final Re-Creational center serves as a cultural center to revive traditional Roman bathing techniques.

Visual, aural & physical interactions with water

This proposal is a learning/recreational center for Traditional Roman Bathing. Introducing the idea of recreation, as an umbrella to cap learning and spiritual programs, while including physical recreation (learning through doing) in order to complete the experience. Moreover, the starting pattern for this project is the mosaics pattern, found in Islamic/Arabic architecture; this initial pattern undergoes a process of understanding, analysis, and decentralization to form the plan.
